On June 28,2024,a delegation of Peruvian Associations visited CCID, where they exchanged views with representatives of Chinese members of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) Network for the Partnership of the New Industrial Revolution (hereinafter referred to as “the GDI Network”). Discussions focused on such topics as implementing the GDI and promoting industrial cooperation between China and Peru. Gonzalo Talavera, Minister of the Embassy of Peru in China, and Felipe James Callao, President of National Society of Industries Peru (SNI) participated in the discussion, who were also joined by heads of 16 Peruvian business associations.
Zhang Xiaoyan, Vice President of CCID, said that CCID was very pleased to organize this meeting on the occasion of the Peruvian President’s visit to China. As China is comprehensively promoting the new type of industrialization, and Peru is vigorously promoting the modernization of production, she believed that the two sides faced similar opportunities and challenges in ICT development. CCID will further leverage its role as a well-known industry think tank and a founding member of the GDI Network to promote cooperation and win-win outcomes through joint research, industrial collaboration, and network building.
Gonzalo envisaged broad scope for industrial cooperation given the close economic and trade ties between China and Peru. Since 2019, driven by the Belt and Road Initiative, China and Peru have made new progress in cooperation in various fields such as industry, economy and trade, and infrastructure construction. He pointed that Peru is willing to further deepen pragmatic industrial cooperation with China, strengthen the connection between business associations, think tanks and enterprises, and welcomes Chinese industry to continue to participate in Peru’s economic development and modernization of productions.
At the symposium, CCID shared China’s practice and experience in new industrialization. The symposium further deepened mutual understanding between the two sides, as they reached broad consensus on jointly promoting the development of the GDI Network and boosting mutually beneficial cooperation between the Chinese and Peruvian industries.
