On 24th April, CCID organized Global Development Initiative Partnership on New Industrial Revolution Symposium in Xiamen, Fujian Province, China. Jin Zhuanglong, Minister of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), delivered a virtual speech. Xu Xiaolan, Vice Minister of MIIT, moderated the opening ceremony.
Jin Zhuanglong said that under the framework of the Global Development Initiative, China is willing to work with all parties to build a new industrial revolution partnership which lays emphasis on future, innovation, inclusion and common development and strengthen cooperation in the fields of industrialization and digitalization to make global development greener, healthier and more robust.
Firstly, we need to stimulate innovation vitality and promote the digital transformation of manufacturing industry. We will jointly build an enterprise-centered and market-oriented technology innovation system featuring deep integration of industry, academia, research, and application and support the GDI-PartNIR to focus on strengthening innovation cooperation in strategic emerging areas to promote the digital, networked, and intelligent development of the manufacturing industry. Secondly, we must adhere to openness and inclusiveness and maintain the stability of industry and supply chains. We need to strengthen complementary advantages and synergistic effects, support enterprises to carry out upstream and downstream collaborative cooperation in industry chains, promote the interconnection of industry and supply chains, and stimulate efficient allocation of resource factors to jointly build secure, stable, and resilient industry and supply chains. Thirdly, we must build a communication platform and strengthen the alignment of strategic policy standards. We will build a comprehensive, multi-level and practical cooperation platform in a way that helps enhance the level of “soft connectivity”, carry out joint researches, share knowledge, build standard alignment and project cooperation, and advocate the inclusive sharing of new technologies, tools, and resources to deliver development benefits to more countries. Fourthly, we must strengthen capacity building and talent foundation for industrial development. Under the framework of the New Industrial Revolution Partnership, we will strengthen cooperation with United Nations agencies and carry out talent exchange and capacity enhancement programs for developing countries and emerging market economies.
The seminar was jointly hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Fujian Provincial People’s Government, and Xiamen Municipal People’s Government. Approximately 150 representatives from 25 countries’ competent ministries, embassies and consulates in China, research institutions, industry associations, leading enterprises, and relevant international organizations attended the symposium. At the symposium, Chairman’s Statement of the Global Development Initiative on New Industrial Revolution Partnership Seminar was released, which aims to advocate much stronger cooperation among countries in the fields of industrialization, digitization, and innovation-driven, inclusive, and sustainable development, empower developing countries to seize the opportunities of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, encourage joint work to build a collaborative, innovative ecosystem to accelerate the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The symposium also saw the launch of the Global Development Initiative on New Industrial Revolution Partnership Network, with 88 institutions from different regions around the world joining the network.
CCID, Fujian Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, and Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology jointly held this symposium. CCID, as a founding member of the Global Development Initiative on New Industrial Revolution Partnership Network, was one of the main organizers. A keynote speech was given by Zhang Xiaoyan, Vice President of CCID, at the symposium on the topic of researching the leapfrog development path of the global new industrial revolution from three aspects: connotation and characteristics, practices and achievements, direction and path.
