In September 2021, President Xi Jinping put forward the Global Development Initiative at the United Nations General Assembly. Aiming to pool the efforts of international community and focusing on development, the Initiative has contributed Chinese solutions and wisdom to resolving development challenges and achieving the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In June 2022, President Xi Jinping chaired the High-level Dialogue on Global Development, emphasizing that China will work with all parties to promote cooperation in key areas, accelerate the transformation and upgrading of industrialization, and promote connectivity in the digital age to inject new impetus into the development of all countries. The High-Level Dialogue released an outcome list of 32 deliverables, including advancing the Partnership on New Industrial Revolution to help improve developing countries' capacity to seize the opportunities brought about by the New Industrial Revolution.
To implement the outcomes of the High-level Dialogue on Global Development, we launched the Partnership on New Industrial Revolution under the framework of Global Development Initiative (GDI-PartNIR) , to intensify cooperation in the fields of industrialization, digitalization, innovation, inclusiveness and sustainable development. The Network is a flexible and pragmatic platform for exchange and cooperation, open to all stakeholders on a voluntary basis. Up to September 2024, 111 entities including think tanks, international organizations and multilateral platforms, universities, industrial alliances, associations and enterprises from 19 countries joined the Network. With concerted efforts of the members, the GDI PartNIR continues to grow in terms of depth and substance.
Looking forward, the GDI PartNIR Network will serve as an important platform empowering all parties to seize the opportunities of the New Industrial Revolution. With deepened cooperation on policy coordination, joint research, capacity building, project development and technological innovation, the Network is expected to contribute substantially to the realization of a more robust, greener and healthier global development.
