President Zhang Li of CCID Attends the 6th Forum on China-Africa Media Cooperation & China-Africa Think Tank High-Level Dialogue

On August 21, 2024, the 6th Forum on China-Africa Media Cooperation & China-Africa Think Tank High-Level Dialogue was held in Beijing. On the eve of the new summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) to be held in 2024, the forum, with the theme of “Walking Together on the Road to Modernization”, invited representatives of the competent departments of the Central African government and think tanks, relevant international organizations, mainstream media, and audiovisual enterprises to discuss the theme of “Win-Win Cooperation: Shaping the

The topics of “Harmony and Coexistence: Building a New Model of Media Collaboration among Countries of the Global South”, “Co-Expansion of Civilizations: Creating a New Frontier of Exchange and Mutual Appreciation between Chinese and African Civilizations” and “Innovation and Co-Progress: Promoting New Development of Media in China and Africa Empowered by Digitization” will be discussed.

Mr. Zhang Li, President of CCID, was invited to attend the sub-forum on “Win-Win Cooperation: Shaping the New Outlook of the ‘Belt and Road’ Initiative and the AU's Agenda 2063” and delivered a keynote speech. President Zhang Li said that the “Belt and Road” Initiative is an important opportunity to promote the leapfrog development of the industrial sector in African countries by deeply connecting with the AU Agenda 2063. CCID is willing to continue to give full play to its role as a bridge and carry out regular exchanges with African think tanks, so as to make greater contributions to the promotion of South-South cooperation and safeguard the common interests of the “Global South”.

The China-Africa Media Cooperation Forum, organized every two years, is one of the mechanisms under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). It was the first time that think tanks were involved in the forum. The forum was co-organized by the State Administration of Radio and Television, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the Beijing Municipal People's Government in conjunction with the African Broadcasting Union, and co-hosted by Beijing Municipal Bureau of Radio and Television and the China Africa Institute.
